About Kessler Law

Kessler Law is a real estate, business and litigation law firm. We represent investors, property owners, lenders and business owners in New Jersey, Florida and New York.

David Kessler founded the firm after graduating from law school in 1982, during a real estate downcycle marked by high interest rates. While building his practice, he experienced both the business and law of real estate, first in a difficult market and then in recovering and thriving markets. That perspective, of counsel who understand transactions through a number of market cycles, remains the foundation of the firm.

In the decades since, the firm has advised clients through the technology boom and its collapse, the Great Recession, the pandemic boom and the current increased interest rate environment. Our clients have been creative and resilient in each of these markets, and we have helped them read market trends and act on them. Much of that work has involved distressed real estate, including the purchase of non-performing notes and mortgages and the recovery of the underlying properties by deed in lieu of foreclosure or through foreclosure completion, across multifamily, commercial, office, industrial and hotel assets. Experience with these deal structures allows us to represent our clients in every kind of real estate, business and financing transaction and in litigation relating to property disputes.
